UAE Celebrates 47th Armed Forces Unification Day

ABU DHABI 4th May 2023 (WAM). The UAE will commemorate its 47th Armed Forces Unification Day, Saturday. This day is to honor the UAE’s powerful military and its important role in maintaining regional and international stability and security.

The event will showcase the country’s military successes, such as its participation in the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy (CRL) in Yemen, Arab Deterrent Forces in Lebanon, Peninsula Shield Forces who liberated Kuwait, United Nations “Operation RESTORE HOPE”, the demining and removals of cluster bombs, unexploded ordinances, and other explosives in Southern Lebanon. It will also highlight the efforts to assist affected people in Kosovo, Iraq, and the significant relief operations following the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan

Recep Tayyip Erdoan, President of Turkiye, recently recognized the efforts of UAE’s Joint Operations Command in “Operation Gallant Knight 2”, awarding the State Medal of Sacrifice to the team for their efforts during the search and rescue mission in the country’s earthquake zones in February 6.

In the last decade, the UAE Armed Forces played a vital role in the unification and growth of the country. The UAE Armed Forces have been recognized globally, with honour certificates and reports from prominent organisations.

On May 6, 1976 the UAE Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan unified the Armed Forces and placed them under a single command and flag. He became the protector of all the achievements and gains made by the country.

The UAE Armed Forces’ readiness continued to improve under the late Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He has been supporting and monitoring the UAE Armed Forces since 1979, when he graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

The UAE Armed Forces, over the last decade, have kept up with the modern development and training requirements. They also increased their effectiveness through the adoption of advanced technologies.
