SHARJAH, 4th May, 2023 (WAM) — H.H. In the presence of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi in his capacity as Supreme Council Member and Ruler, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed AlQasimi, Chairman of the Board of Director of BEEAH group, approved a joint project “Jawaher Boston Medical District”, between BEEAH, “Mass General Brigham Hospitals Network,” “Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,” and BEEAH. The goal is to create an advanced health network in Sharjah.
The delegation included Meghan Gregonis of the United States Consulate General in Dubai, Khaled al Huraimel of the BEEAH group, Dr. Hans Thomas of the “Mass General Brigham Hospitals Network” and Dr. Laurie Glimcher of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad listened to a presentation about the “Jawaher Medical District” project. This is the first time that medical networks have agreed with all parties in order to create a strong and integrated health care network, including hospitals, centres and institutes, and laboratories, that will offer health care using the best standards and methods.
The project will contribute to medical research and studies in general and cancer diseases specifically by leveraging the expertise of “Mass General Brigham Hospitals Network”, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and other scientific and researching institutes within the Emirate of Sharjah.
According to the most recent international designs in the healthcare industry, the project will be built on the “Emirates Bypass Road” next to the Sharjah Mosque to meet the demands of people of all ages.
The network of medical specialists will include a variety of specialisations including oncology and lifestyle medicine, women’s and children’s health, cardiology, neurosciences and behavioral health. It will also integrate care in homes, schools, workplaces and residential neighborhoods.
Khaled Al Huraimel confirmed the project reflects His Highness the Ruler, of Sharjah’s vision, as well as that of his wife, Sheikha Jawaher, for the Emirate to become one of the most prestigious healthcare cities in the Middle East. He also stressed that BEEAH is committed to improving the quality of life within the Emirate and beyond.
The hospitals that are cooperating in this project have a wealth of experience and innovation. This will allow the project to be able set new standards for the region.
Dr. Abdulaziz Saeed Al Muhairi (Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority) deemed the medical project as a qualitative addition for health services in UAE in general and in Emirate of Sharjah specifically, and stressed the continued cooperation between BEEAH group and Sharjah Health Authority at all levels and frameworks. The United States of America and other international organizations are also involved in the project.
Meghan Gregonis thanked His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah for the successful cooperation between medical institutions and educational institutions from the United States of America. This will allow a unique chance to create a significant and unique project.
She said that the new system would allow specialists to conduct medical research, innovation, patient care, and education in Sharjah. This demonstrates the consulate’s desire for a more fruitful collaboration with the Emirate Sharjah.
Dr. Hans Thomas, for his part expressed his satisfaction in working with BEEAH Group to realize the vision of providing an integrated healthcare system that is focused on medical treatment to patients in Emirate Sharjah and United Arab Emirates.
He said that the project is aimed at providing Sharjah the best health care and treatment in the region. This will be achieved by providing the necessary tools and facilities to diagnose diseases and creating a healthy ecosystem.
Dr. Laurie Glimcher has praised His Highness Sheikha Jahaher, the wife of the Sharjah Ruler and her vision to create a Sharjah health network of world-class standards.
She said that the institute had a history of over 75 years of working in cancer treatment and research, making it qualified to make a contribution in this area in the Emirate Sharjah.
