ABU DHABI. 4th May 2023. (WAM). The Authority of Social Contribution, Ma’an is the Abu Dhabi Government’s dedicated social priority entity. It continues to positively impact members of the community across a variety of verticals including sports and fitness.
Fit Fam is an inclusive social programme for football enthusiasts who want to improve their physical and mental health and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
The participants in the programme will be paired with volunteers for their training in order to promote cohesion within the community.
Mohammed Al Naqbi is one of the Fit Fam participants who has been rewarded for his talent by being invited to play with the Regional Sports under 18 team and receiving a full scholarship. He now plays alongside mainstream footballers.
Regional Sports, a private football academy based in the UK, is at the forefront of providing a safe environment for everyone.
Mohammed Al Naqbi said, “Being a part of Fit Fam was an incredible experience. I made lifelong friends and demonstrated my skills.” “I am really pleased to be a part of this program which has given me the opportunity to show a mainstream private academy what I can achieve.”
“We are so proud of Mohammed Al Naqbi for showing how far people with the right talent, mindset and opportunities can go,” said Dr. Mohammed Al Dhaheri.
The progression of Mohammed Al Naqbi to the main football team is symbolic of the goals behind social programmes like Fit Fam. They are to promote inclusivity and give everyone the chance to feel a part in the community. Our generous volunteers and the buddy system are crucial to this progression. This further shows how important volunteers are in shaping other people’s lives.
Fit Fam is funded through Ma’an’s Community Volunteering Programme Grant, and those looking to get involved and make a difference, can email community.engagement@maan.gov.ae to receive support and funding to run impactful community volunteering programmes.
