DUBAI, May 4, 2023 — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has added Samsung Pay as one of its many payment options to allow customers to conveniently and securely pay their bills on digital channels.
DEWA is the only government entity in Dubai that has adopted the Samsung Pay option for its digital channels. The service is available through DEWA smart app for Samsung smartphones.
Saeed Mohammed al Tayer, MD and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, stated that DEWA wants to improve its global leadership in digital transformation through adopting the latest technology and innovative solutions, and working with the government and other private organisations.
“DEWA provides all of its services through its website and app, providing real-time and smooth services with added value to all stakeholders. This saves them time and effort and enhances their happiness. It also protects the environment and reduces their carbon footprint. DEWA offers a variety of digital channels for completing transactions at any time. In 2022, smart adoption of DEWA services reached 99 percent. In 2022, DEWA achieved a score of 98 percent in the Dubai Government Instant Happiness Index by Dubai Digital Authority.
In 2022, more than 10 millions transactions were conducted by customers using digital platforms provided by DEWA and its partner companies. More than 1.5 million transactions have been completed via DEWA’s smart app, more than 2.3 millions transactions using DEWA’s website, more than 800,000.000 payment processes completed through Dubai Now and more than 350.000 payment transactions conducted through Etisalat’s payment machines.
Over 4.5 million transactions have been completed using the smart channels in 20 UAE banks. More than 28,000 transactions were made through the ‘Tayseer service’, which uses cheques to deposit cash at Emirates NBD’s ATMs, and more than 600,000 transactions via Apple Pay.
