UAE President and Vietnam Vice President discuss bilateral relations

ABU DHABI 3rd MAY 2023 (WAM).- His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met today with Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan of Vietnam at Qasr Al Watan Abu Dhabi, to discuss bilateral ties between the two nations and ways to further develop them.

His Highness, in welcoming the Vietnamese Vice-President, who was on an official trip to the UAE, expressed his hope that this meeting would help to advance the ties between both countries. Vo Van Thuong was also congratulated and wished well by His Highness.

His Highness the Vietnamese Vice president reviewed the various areas in which the UAE and Vietnam have cooperated and discussed how to further develop these areas, particularly in the areas joint investment, economic growth, renewable energy and food security.

Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the UAE President discussed the COP28 Climate Conference that will be held in the UAE this year. His Highness said that the UAE looked forward to Vietnam’s participation in the joint international efforts to combat the impacts of climate change.

His Highness noted that the UAE-Vietnam relationship has grown continuously since 1993. He also welcomed the signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent for the launch of talks to establish a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which will boost the relations between the countries.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed thanked Vietnam for supporting the UAE in becoming a member of the Association of South-East Asian Nations. He also stressed the UAE’s determination to implement the joint action plan that the UAE has with the ASEAN.

The Vietnamese vice president expressed her gratitude for the warm reception she received and stressed that Vietnam is eager to strengthen its relations with the UAE on various fields in order to advance the development efforts of both countries.

She noted that the visit coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the establishment between the two nations, and expressed confidence that there were many opportunities to strengthen and develop these relations.

Vo Thi Anh Xuan praised UAE’s comprehensive progress while preserving their identity, culture, and traditions. She noted that this is a good model for other countries looking to develop in the future.

She also invited His Highness Sheikh Mohamed, the Vietnamese president to visit Vietnam and stressed that exchanges of delegations between the two countries would create new opportunities for cooperation.

Upon arrival at Qasr Al Watan the Vietnamese Vice-President was welcomed by His highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Vice President, Deputy Premier and Minister of the Presidential Court. A guard of honour was performed, as well as the Vietnamese National Anthem and 21-gun salute.
