The Arab Council of Ministers Responsible for Meteorology and Climate held its third session on May 3, 2023. It was to discuss a variety of relevant topics in the fields of climate change and weather. The session took place at the headquarters of General Secretariat of League of Arab States.
Saudi Press Agency reports that Dr. Ayman Bin Salem Ghulam of the National Centre for Meteorology was the head of the Saudi Arabian delegation at the meeting.
In his address at the meeting Dr. Ghulam stated that the Kingdom had sought to achieve its ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 in the field meteorology, and to increase its technical and scientific capability.
Dr. Ghulam stated that the Kingdom has seen the results of the dual national and region initiatives it has taken, particularly in the area of numerical model systems, which will improve the accuracy and coverage of weather forecasts, and also increase the geographic coverage of land and ocean.
He said that since the Arab League General Secretariat assumed the presidency of the Council of Arab Ministers responsible for Meteorological and Climate Affairs in 2011, the Kingdom has worked with it to implement the approved actions and is keen on maintaining coordination with its members.
