Registration is now open for the training on integrated solar PV panel design

DUBAI, May 3, 2023 — The Innovation Centre of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has opened registration for its second batch of ‘Integrated Solar Photovoltaic System Designer’. This training will cover solar PV plants and systems, design methods, installations, testing and maintenance as well as evaluating PV projects. The Innovation Centre organizes the training with TUV Rhineland Academy.

Saeed Mohammed al Tayer, MD and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA said: “Through the Innovation Centre DEWA aims at developing skills and building the capacities of the future generation of innovators of clean energy technologies, with a particular focus on developing the talents of young Emiratis. We provide a unique environment for learning by hosting conferences, seminars and workshops. We also build partnerships with local and foreign universities and startups in order to collaborate in the areas innovation and knowledge exchange and experience, as well as raising awareness about sustainable and clean energy

Fares NAOURI, CEO of TUV Rhineland, said, “DEWA Solar Innovation Centre, TUV Rheinland academy are collaborating in order to promote a shared goal, which is to develop technical competences in solar and renewable topic in the region. Our initiative aims to encourage professionals to take part and become ‘Integrated PV Designers.’ We are happy to launch the second session with DEWA in May after successfully completing the initial batch.

The first training round attracted 20 participants. Those who successfully completed the course and passed the final exam received professional certificates for the design and installation solar energy systems. The second batch of training will take place from 15th-19th May in the Innovation Centre at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The training is designed to increase the trainees’ knowledge of photovoltaic systems, Standard IEC 60364-7-712, Electrical installations, protection against electric shock, and Standard IEC 62446, Photovoltaic Systems – Requirements for Testing, Documentation, and Maintenance.

The students also learn the principles of PV Plant Design. They are taught how to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of PV designs, as well as the ability to design and configure PV systems for low voltage on-grid or off-grid.
