Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition launches competition for the “Most Beautiful Falcon Stand”

ABU DHABI 3rd, May 2023, (WAM) – As part of their efforts to support and promote craftsmen, inventors and companies that manufacture falconry equipment and tools, the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition announced for the first in its history the launch of “The Most Beautiful and Best Traditional Falcon Stand”. This was due to the historical significance and authenticity of heritage values the falcon represents.

The Emirates Falconers’ Club will organize the 20th edition of ADIHEX from the 23rd-29th August 2023. It is sponsored by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, International Fund for Houbara Conservation, and Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Caracal International LLC is the sector partner, and industry partners include the International Association for Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey (IAFCP), the European Foundation for Falconry and Conservation (EFFC), the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and Dubai International Horse Fair and Game Fair-France, as well as the official automotive partner ARB Emirates.

The jury is made up of experts in falconry, its equipment and Emirates Falconers’ Club Members. The main criteria for evaluating the stand is its efficiency and utility in ensuring that the falcon can feel comfortable. The stand’s overall beauty, quality of materials, price and aesthetics are also considered. The competition is open only to falcon stand manufacturers.

The falcon stand has long been considered an essential tool for falconry. The falcon stand is made from wood or metal and has a cylinder shape. Its end has a large flat surface. For comfort, it is covered with leather, felt carpet or artificial grass. A nail is also hammered at the base of the pole to ensure it stays in place and that the falcon can stand on it for long periods.

There are several types of falcon stands and materials used to manufacture them. The traditional wooden stand has a unique aesthetic that reflects the original legacy in falconry.

Since its founding in 2003, ADIHEX has made it a priority to raise awareness about the value of falconry, as a shared human art, heritage and tradition, the importance of preserving, promoting and defining sustainable hunts, and the importance of defining sustainable hunting. ADIHEX also aims to exchange knowledge and experience and strengthen relations between domestic and foreign companies. This will help to support efforts to preserve falconry and to inherit the sport from parents and grandparents.

The falconry sector was a record-breaker in the last edition of ADIHEX (2022) with more than 60 exhibitors presenting a wide range of traditional and technical tools and equipment as well as products produced by farms that breed captive falcons. More than 900 brands and companies from 58 different countries participated in the 11 exhibition sectors.
