ABU DHABI (WAM), 2nd May 2023 – Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chair of the Emirates Cricket Board and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation awarded the winners of the Cricket Workforce Challenge Cup which took place Monday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on the occasion International Workers’ Day.
The tournament, which was held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in the UAE, attracted dignitaries and ambassadors from several countries as well as a large number of workers. Misbah-ul Haq, the former Pakistani national cricket team star, took part in the games.
Sheikh Nahyan stated, “Improving the quality of living for our UAE workforce is one of our wise leaders’ priorities.” To support this, holding events that allow workers to express their hobbies and talents is one way.
He said, “We are grateful for this competition because it gives our employees a chance to celebrate this special day.”
Dr. Al Awar said that the sports event was an opportunity to recognize the important role played by workers from different nationalities in the UAE, and their contribution to nation’s growth. The event also acknowledges their role as productive partners in the UAE’s development journey.
He said that the UAE is keen to promote a culture of providing an encouraging and decent work environment in order to boost productivity. This is part of creating a comprehensive system that provides social security for all workers in the workforce, while guaranteeing their equal rights with employers.
