Fujairah Fine Arts Academy opens School of Gilding and Ornamentation

FUJAIRAH (WAM), 2nd May 2023 — The Fujairah Fine Arts Academy inaugurated its School of Gilding and Ornamentation at a ceremony held in the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton Fujairah City under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi is the Crown Prince of Fujairah.

Ali Obaid Al Hafiti is the Director-General of Fujairah Fine Arts Academy. He said the School of Gilding and Ornamentation aims at enthusiasts and students of this artform. It also aims to highlight the place and importance of the Islamic World in history, and provide students with the skills necessary to create gilded and ornate creations.

Israa al Hamel, the Director of the School of Gilding and Ornamentation said the school was preparing a cultural and artistic project to decorate Qur’ans and manuscripts. This will provide an opportunity for graduates of design, art, architecture and marketing to explore their theoretical language of historical Islamic arts, unleash their creativity and hone skills.

The School will host skill-building workshops as well as an annual diploma program in order to revive the traditional manuscript. The five sections of the programme will be gilding (golden leaf), engraving (arabic calligraphy), miniatures and bookmaking. Graduates from bachelor programs from all disciplines are welcome.
