Arabic teacher Abu Dhabi receives Japanese Award

ABU DHABI (WAM), 2nd May 2023 — A Japanese teacher who teaches Arabic in Abu Dhabi won a prestigious award for his contributions to the promotion of educational and cultural exchanges with the UAE.

According to a press release issued by the Japanese Embassy Abu Dhabi, the Government of Japan announced that it had decided to award ‘the Order of the Rising Sun Silver Rays’ to Farag Barakat al Sayed Barakat. He is the Public Relations Manager at the Japanese School Abu Dhabi and teaches Arabic.

Barakat, a teacher at the Japanese School of Abu Dhabi and its manager, has been teaching Arabic and Emirati Culture to Japanese students enrolled since April 1989. He helps them understand culture and customs in the UAE.

Since 2006, he has promoted the understanding of Japanese culture, customs, and values among Emirati students in school, and helped them gain diverse cultural perspectives, as well as global awareness.

The Embassy of Japan has congratulated Barakat on his distinguished service, and for achieving the recognition from the Japanese government.
