Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority assures student safety

SHARJAH. 1st May 2023 (WAM). Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has stated that the Sharjah Safety and Prevention Authority (SPSA) is committed to promoting prevention awareness and improving the culture of occupational safety and health. This commitment is part of their strategic goals. The authority’s goal is to create a community that is safe and free of hazards. The SPSA works continuously to improve the safety of children in educational environments.

Engineer Majid al Khumairi is the Head of Training Institutes and Individuals Section. He highlighted that educational institutions have a number of obligations, roles and responsibilities they must fulfill in order to ensure their students’ safety. They include conducting risk assessments, identifying hazards and conducting training exercises for managing risks that students could be exposed to.

He stressed the importance of workers receiving regular training and relevant knowledge to manage risk.

Khaled Al Ali (Head of Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System, Prevention and Safety Authority) explained that Sharjah Occupational Safety and Health System focuses primarily on the key and essential points for maintaining the safety of the students in a school environment. These include safe entry and exit, slip and fall hazards, safety measures to be taken during transportation, field trips and electrical safety.

He also stressed the importance of constant supervision by supervisors in order to ensure that students are protected from injuries and accidents.

He said that the Authority was in constant coordination and collaboration with the Sharjah Private Education Authority, to unite efforts towards achieving the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi (Supreme Council Member and Ruler in Sharjah) to create a stimulating education environment that will contribute to academic excellence among students.
