DUBAI, May 1, 2023 — His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minster and Ruler, of Dubai, toured today the 30th Arabian Travel Market which began today at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was present, as well as H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Second Deputy Ruler and Chairman of Dubai Media Council.
The event attracted 2,000 exhibitors from 150 different countries. ATM 2023 saw a 27 percent increase in exhibitor participation compared to the previous event.
Sheikh Mohammed said that the growth of the Arabian Travel Market as a global event in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors is a reflection of Dubai’s growing importance as a global hub for business and investment. It also reflects the fact that the industry leaders are able to have a constructive dialogue about unlocking new opportunities.
He added that the theme, ‘Working Towards Net Zero,’ reflected the UAE’s and Dubai’s commitment towards shaping a sustainable human future.
“Our vision for Dubai is to be the global leader in business and investment. Our goal is to expand on our economic successes to create new growth horizons. Mohammed bin Rashid stated that Dubai would continue to be a leader in the tourism sector by combining local talent and the synergies brought about by its strong international partnerships.
He also emphasized the importance of tourism as one of Dubai’s key pillars and a crucial driver of its growth agenda in the next 10 year. “Tourism brings in significant investment and creates an exceptional value for the economy. Dubai’s number one ranking in international tourism industry indexes is a reflection of its rise as a leading destination for business, leisure, and travel. In line with Dubai’s culture of collaboration, we established a robust partnership with the leading players in the private sector to ensure global standards of quality. “We will continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for all stakeholders to help contribute to the rapid expansion of our tourism sector,” he said.
Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied on the tour by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy; and Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreign Affairs in Dubai. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri was the Minister of Economy, and Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri was the Director General of Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency & Foreign Affairs.
Helal Saeed Almarri Director-General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, briefed His highness on this year’s event, which provides a platform for tourism professionals around the world to make new connections, exchange knowledge and showcase innovations.
The event is expected to draw 34,000 people. It concludes on the 4th of May.
Mohammed bin Rashid also received a briefing on ATM 2023, which focuses on the sharing of ideas and knowledge to accelerate the sector’s decarbonisation journey, particularly as the UAE prepares for COP28 (the global climate change conference) in November 2023.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed also received information about the major tourism destinations from around the world that will be participating at ATM 2023. He visited local, regional and global pavilions.
